Well Bred Price Debutant Today at Geelong
This afternoon's opening race at Geelong in Victoria is the stepping-off point for a beautifully bred 2YO colt. By Vinery's globe-trotting shuttler More Than Ready, Lu Bu is out of the Flying Spur mare Hanover Fist, making him a half-brother to highly consistent Gr3 winner Red Bomber and a full-brother to stakes-placed Ready To Fight. A $170,000 Inglis Easter Yearling making his debut for the in-form Mick Price yard, Lu Bu's dam is from the immediate family of Typhoon Tracy, Red Element, Kylie Kwong, Tracy's Element, Master of Design (see above item), Suntagonal and Shaft, among others. Last week, Victoria's Bullarook Park announced that Typhoon Tracy's only foal, $2.1 million Inglis Easter graduate Last Typhoon (by Street Cry), will stand his first season in 2017. Race favourite is fellow debutant Takemehomemister.
Tracy Son To Stand At Bullarook
In what is a coup for Victorian stallion ranks, it has been announced that blueblood entire Last Typhoon will stand his debut season at Avenel's Bullarook Park. A spectacular yearling who was passed in for a massive $2.1 million at the 2014 Easter Yearling Sale, Last Typhoon possessed enough ability to carry him to 2 wins and 3 placings from only 11 starts. Purely on pedigree he looms as an enticing stud option. He is by Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner and Champion Australian Sire of 2015-2016 Street Cry, sire of Hall of Fame Mare Winx, together with Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking and Gr1 Blue Diamond winner Pride of Dubai, Last Typhoon hails from the illustrious family, as mentioned, of Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy. Capturing 11 wins from only 20 starts, her CV includes Gr1 wins in the Futurity Stakes, Queen of the Turf and Coolmore Classic. Her dam, Tracy's Element, was a freakish conveyance in South Africa earning her 4 Gr1 victories and the titles of Champion 2YO Filly & Older Classic Mare. Broodmare sire Red Ransom is equally as impressive with 108 stakes winners. Bullarook's Malcolm Boyd enthused, "The Street Cry influence is a big tick for me. He is a champion sire, proven in Australian conditions, who has three sons at stud in Victoria and this fellow is from a simply outstanding family." With a boastful 110 stakes winners, Last Typhoon's sire Street Cry also has a lofty 73.6 per cent winners to runners record in the Southern Hemisphere. Last Typhoon will stand his freshman season at an affordable fee of $4,400 inc GST.

$2.1 Million Pass-In On Cusp Of First City Win
Meanwhile, one of the best-bred colts in Australia will have a further chance to break through at metropolitan level today. Passed in for $2.1 million at the 2014 Inglis Easter Sale, Last Typhoon (Street Cry-Typhoon Tracy, by Red Ransom) is guaranteed to have a future at stud, purely by dint of pedigree. The connections of the only ever progeny of champion race mare Typhoon Tracy, who tragically died, will be hoping that the 2 wins and 3 placings Last Typhoon has achieved from his first 8 starts are a portent of even better things to come. He lines up against a competitive field today at Sandown in Melbourne following a 6-lengths defeat at Caulfield over 2000m in late March. Dropping back in grade, from a good gate Last Typhoon is expected to be closer to the leaders and put himself into the finish. His fixed odds price is $10.
Typhoon Tracy Foal Set For Debut
Last Typhoon, the only foal of 2010 Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy, will make his debut in a 1300m maiden plate at Sandown tomorrow. Typhoon Tracy, who won 6 Gr1 races including two editions of the CF Orr Stakes, died shortly after giving birth to the son of Street Cry who was passed in for $2.1 million when failing to make his $3 million reserve at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. Prepared by Typhoon Tracy's trainer Peter Moody, Last Typhoon will race in the same red and gold epaulette silks of owner-breeder Hutchins Thoroughbreds. This is the renowned family of champion South African mare Tracy's Element, Danasinga, Cullen, Towkay, Suntagonal, Urge To Merge and Master Of Design.
