Berkeley Park Stud Overview

Vendors of boom Gr1-winning sprinter Chautauqua, Berkeley Park Stud have only been presenting yearlings since 2011. Their 2014 Magic Millions draft included 2YO stakes-placed Senso, and in 2016 Berkeley Park will present nine yearlings that includes a very rare opportunity for breeders to purchase a filly with residual value. Lot 32 is by Dream Ahead (whose oldest Australian progeny have just turned two) and is the only foal of Gr1 winner Asia, a half sister to Dr Grace. Also by Dream Ahead is Lot 452, a colt from city winner More Than Royal, a half-sister to stakes winner and Gr1-placed Jersey Lily.

Lot 268 is a colt by Uncle Mo, another stallion with first crop 2YOs, and is the first foal of stakes-placed winner Gonski Girl. Zoffany also has 2YOs and Lot 596 is out of a winning Galileo mare from a precocious family. Star Witness did a fantastic job with his first crop of 2YOs, leaving three stakes winners, and his colt, Lot 759 is the first foal of a daughter of stakes winner La Chasseuse.

Proven sire I Am Invincible has two yearlings in the Berkeley draft. Lot 1009 is a half-sister to Gr3-placed Thin Red Line from the family of Gr2 winner Apollo Wonder; meanwhile Lot 793 is the first foal of a winning Encosta de Lago mare from a European family. Another proven sire is Teofilo, whose son Kermadec looks all class, and he has Lot 954 a filly from a winning daughter of a stakes-placed Zabeel mare.

All Too Hard is one of the boom freshman sires this year, and his yearling filly, Lot 333, is out of a winning daughter of Champion 3YO Filly and Champion Older Turf Mare Islington who won six races, four at Gr1 level.
