Not many farms boast a 100 year record of breeding top class horses. Kia-Ora’s long history continues as they have recently produced horses such as Gr2 winner & Gr1-placed Zululand, and Gr1-placed Brazuca (2^nd in South Africa’s 2YO Golden Horseshoe this year).

Kia-Ora presents a select draft of ten yearlings at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale and have a range of sires represented, including two by current Champion Sire Fastnet Rock. Lot 168 is a full-sister to Zululand, and both are out of Gr2 winner Dream Play, herself a half-sister to Gr1 winner Diplomat Lady. The other Fastnet Rock is Lot 411, a filly from Gr1 winner Mani Bhavan who is from a strong American family that includes top sire Speightstown.

More Than Ready’s record in the Golden Slipper is to be envied, and Kia-Ora has two yearlings by him here. Lot 73 is a filly from precocious stakes winner Burgeis, who was placed in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes; while Lot 544 is out of stakes-placed Rock of Fortune from the family of Gr1 winners Fairy King Prawn and Cosmic Endeavour.

Snitzel has a colt, Lot 271, out of a winning daughter of Champion Older Female in Italy, Honorifique, while All Too Hard’s sire Casino Prince is represented here by a colt, Lot 285, out of stakes winner Hancora from an imported European family. Champion sire Exceed and Excel has Lot 555, a colt, from a well-bred Sadler’s Wells mare whose first three foals are all winners. Out of a stakes winner, the dam of this colt is a half-sister to dual Gr1 winner Brian Boru and three other stakes winners; as well as the dam of Gr1 winner Workforce.

So You Think was an outstanding racehorse and his first crop are now 2YOs. His daughter, Lot 163, is out of Gr1 winner Dorabella from a tough NZ family. This draft is completed by two lots by freshman sires. A colt by boom freshman sire Pierro, Lot 215, is out of a young winning mare who is a full sister to Gr2 winner Rothesay (Fastnet Rock) from the Canny Lass family. Lot 579 is a colt by champion All Too Hard out of a European family. His dam has already left two winners from her first two foals.
