If the idea is to get the most from the least, then there would be few sales the equal of Magic Millions’ QTIS March Yearling Sale which continues to pump out precocious horses.
Last year’s sale has already produced 2YO stakes-winners Better Reflection (Better Than Ready) and Champagne Boom (Spirit of Boom), while Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Boomsara (Spirit of Boom) is a graduate of the 2017 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, as are fellow graduates include Buffering (Mossman), Spirit of Boom (Sequalo), I’m a Rippa (Love Conquers All) and Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon).
Buffering, a $22,000 purchase who won over $7million, has recently had a statue unveiled in his honour at Eagle Farm racetrack, and he epitomises the tough Queensland-bred style of horse that is available at good value prices at the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale. Buyers have started to recognise the type of horse they can purchase at this sale, with the average price leaping from $28,000 in 2017 and 2016 to $44,000 in 2018. This upward movement can be largely attributed to the hugely popular stock of Spirit of Boom, himself a graduate of this sale.
Buyers have plenty of other upside to attending the March Yearling Sale. All lots offered have been subject to the first payment for QTIS, allowing buyers the opportunity to scoop up the bonuses of $67,200 (colts and geldings) and $79,740 (fillies) on every Saturday for a Queensland metropolitan two and three-year-old win, provided they complete the QTIS eligibility. Nearly a third of the catalogue, a record 91 lots, are also BOBS eligible.
Every QTIS eligible thoroughbred will be able to compete for the $1.6 million on Gold Coast March Sales Raceday on March 14, 2020. The races on the card will include the $500,000 The Jewel for 2YOs – won by Boomsara in its inaugural running in 2018. An added incentive for buyers at this sale is a 33% discount on the Magic Millions Race Series nomination fee, and this will make their purchase eligible for the $11 million+ suite of graduate races held over six states of Australia.
The 2019 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale will see 392 select lots go under the hammer over two days, March 18 and 19.
