Spirit of Boom continues to make headlines. The tough Gr1-winning sprinter, himself a graduate of the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, has clocked up eight stakes-winners from his first two crops, including Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Boomsara, Spirits Aubeer, Ef Troop, Heaven’s Deal, Jonker, Kinky Boom, Outback Barbie, and this season’s 2YO Listed MRC Inglis Debutante Stakes at Caulfield winner Champagne Boom.
Spirit of Boom has 30 lots entered into the 2019 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, with twelve of those catalogued by Eureka Stud, who stand him. Among the 30 lots by Spirit of Boom are some interesting pedigrees, such as Lot 77, a three-quarter-sister to Outback Barbie; Lot 144, a half-brother to Gr3 winner Dan Baroness; Lot 158 a filly out of a winning half-sister to Gr1 Queensland Oaks winner Tinto; Lot 179 a half-sister to stakes winner Caliente; Lot 360, a colt out of a daughter of Gr1 winner Zagalia, dam of Gr3 winner Dawnie Perfect; Lot 372, a filly out of a winning Lonhro half-sister to Gr1 winner Carnegie Express; and Lot 382, out of Gr3-placed winner Mossriver.
Meanwhile, More Than Ready’s Listed-winning and Gr1-placed son Better Than Ready has emerged as a rising star with his first crop in 2018/19. Like Spirit of Boom, Queensland-based at Lyndhurst Stud, his ten first crop winners include stakes-winners Better Reflection and The Odyssey, and he has 49 lots listed in the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale. Buyers would be well advised to inspect every one of his progeny, because his winning progeny to date have proved to be good value buying. Some lots of interest, on paper, include Lot 39, a colt out of a half-sister to Hong Kong Champion Able Friend; Lot 78 a colt out of imported Gr1 winner Shine Bridge; Lot 82 a half-brother to Gr2 winner Churchill Downs; Lot 94 a colt out of a half-sister to Gr1 winner Desert Eagle; and Lot 155 a colt out of a winning half-sister to Gr1 winner Ike’s Dream. Astute buyers will be expecting Better Than Ready’s progeny to keep improving as they mature, and 2019 might be the last chance to buy one of his yearlings at a reasonable price.
