With WANTED’S impressive racing history and his exciting progeny leaving their winning mark on tracks across Australia, it is an effortless decision for breeders to send their mares to the Gr1 winning son of FASTNET ROCK.

Blessed with pace, Gr1 winner and three-time Gr1 placed 3YO WANTED has already sired 14 individual Stakes performers in his short career at stud, including Gr1 South Australian Derby hero LEICESTER, VITAL SILVER, SIRIUS SUSPECT, MISTER YEOH, DEAD OR ALIVE, etc.

An $800,000 Inglis Easter yearling half-brother to Gr1-performed sprinter SHRAPNEL, WANTED was a precocious juvenile, recording black type honours in the Gr3 Kindergarten Stakes, beating PURDEY and OUR JOAN OF ARC.

He went on to really stamp himself as a serious racehorse again as a 3YO, when gallantly defeated by a minor margin from arguably the best horse of our generation, BLACK CAVIAR, in the Gr2 Danehill Stakes. His Gr1 success in the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) saw him lead all the way from barrier to post, dominating his big-name rivals, among them STARSPANGLEDBANNER, EAGLE FALLS, HEADWAY, ALL SILENT, NICCONI and EL SEGUNDO.

The classy colt went on to race in 10 races as a 3YO, including an eye-opening eight at Gr1 level. He finished runner-up in three Gr1 races that year and only finished out of the top four placings on one occasion. WANTED’S outstanding achievements were certainly noticed and, as a result, he was duly awarded Joint Third Colt on 2009-10 Australasian 3YO Classification.
