At Wingatui in New Zealand, Windsor Park Stud's triple Gr1-winning shuttler Rip Van Winkle (Galileo-Looking Back, by Stravinsky) added a black-type success when 4YO New Zealand-bred mare Pendleton (Rip Van Winkle-Ihadadream, by Zabeel) outstayed her rivals with a strong win in the $50,000 Listed Dunedin Gold Cup (2400m) for 3YO+, defeating Aspen Lass & Who Dares Wins. Owned by Valachi Downs Stud principal Kevin Hickman, Pendleton was a $28,000 purchase at the 2014 NZB National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Sale from the draft of Haunui Farm. She advanced her record to 4 wins and 2 placings from 9 starts for NZ$72,950 in earnings. "She's very promising and has progressed quickly over the last twelve months," said co-trainer Shane Kennedy, who prepares Pendleton with partner Anna Furlong.
