Winter Wins Gr1 Nassau Stakes

Friday, 4th August 2017

Meanwhile, also at Goodwood in the UK overnight, former Coolmore shuttler and global superstar sire Galileo added a Gr1 success when exceptional 3YO filly Winter (Galileo-Ladies Poker Two, by Choisir) scored by 1.5-lengths for trainer Aidan O’Brien in the £600,000 Gr1 Nassau Stakes (9 furlongs, 197 yards). On ground that was far from ideal, Winter defeated 5YO mare Blond Me (Tamayuz-Holda, by Docksider) & fellow 3YO filly Sobetsu (Dubawi-Lake Toya, by Darshaan) to take her sparkling record to 5 wins (also including the Gr1 Coronation Stakes, Gr1 English 1000 Guineas & Gr1 Irish 1000 Guineas) & 3 placings from 8 starts. Winter, who hails from a prodigiously talented family, is being targeted at Del Mar’s Breeders’ Cup meeting later this year.
