At Doomben racecourse in Brisbane, former Coolmore & now Aquis Farm-based dual Gr1-winning stallion Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill-L'On Vite, by Secretariat) added a Group race success when 6YO Irish-bred gelding Duca Valentinois (Holy Roman Emperor-Love Valentine, by Fruits of Love) registered the third stakes victory of his career in the $125,000 Gr3 Lord Mayor's Cup (1630m) for 3YO+, defeating Sheiswhatsheis & Coldstone. The Godolphin-owned Duca Valentinois improved his record to 7 wins (including the Listed Ladies Day Cup & Listed Scone Cup) and 9 placings (including the Gr3 BRC Lord Mayor's Cup) from 34 starts for $553,384 in earnings.
Champion mare Winx features among the nominations for next month's US$6 million Gr1 Dubai Turf (1800m) in Dubai. The Dubai Turf will be run on the world's richest day of racing, Dubai World Cup night, to be held at Meydan racecourse on Saturday, 31 March 2018. If Winx does compete in the UAE it would be a huge coup for the Dubai racing carnival, however it seems highly unlikely with Chris Waller previously stating that no decision regarding an international campaign will be made until after she runs in the Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) in Sydney on 24 March. Other Australian horses that hold entries on World Cup night include Gr1 winning sprinters Hey Doc, Music Magnate and Viddora (US$1 million Gr1 Al Quoz Sprint), and Abbey Marie, Coldstone and Wyndspelle (US$10 million Gr1 Dubai World Cup).
