Top Quality in Perth Autumn Racehorse Sale

A quality line up of gallopers will go under the hammer on Friday, 20 April when the 2018 Magic Millions Perth Autumn Racehorse Sale is held at Belmont Park Racecourse. Starting at 2pm (WA time) the auction has attracted 39 lots with supplementary entries to close 5pm (WA time) on Tuesday. A highlight of the auction will be the 13 lot draft from Peters Investments featuring stakes winner Disposition and city winners Glimmer Girl, Presentate and Regal Class. At the most recent Perth Racehorse Sale lots sold by Peters Investments included recent stakes winners Battle Hero and Dark Alert. A homebred for prominent WA owner and breeder Bob Peters before being sold for $70,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Perth Winter Thoroughbred Sale, Dark Alert advanced his record to 9 wins (including the Listed Pinjarra Cup) and 10 placings (including the Listed WATC Detonator Stakes & Listed WATC Ascot Gold Cup) from 35 starts for $624,725 in earnings.

Trap For Fools Wins Listed ATA Stakes

At Ascot racecourse in Perth, Darley's Gr1-winning shuttler Poet's Voice (Dubawi-Bright Tiara, by Chief's Crown) added a black-type success when 4YO Australian-bred gelding Trap For Fools (Poet's Voice-Old Money, by Old Spice) outstayed his rivals with a strong front-running performance in the $100,000 Listed ATA Stakes (2200m) for 3YO+, defeating Dark Alert & Not Again Ken. Trap For Fools confirmed his status as the most promising stayer in Western Australia with his third successive stakes victory that boosted his record to 10 wins (including the Listed GA Towton Cup & Listed Tattersall's Cup) and 5 placings from 21 starts for $340,280 in earnings. Trainer Lindsey Smith confirmed that Trap For Fools is likely to back up in the Gr2 Ted van Heemst Stakes (2100m) at Ascot on Saturday. His primary target remains the Gr2 Perth Cup (2400m) on 1 January. "As is stands today, yes. He has been up a long time, he can now spend a couple of days down at the beach, and Friday afternoon if he is happy, the vet checks him and makes sure he is okay then he will run,” Smith told ANZ Bloodstock News.
