At Morphettville racecourse in Adelaide, French 2000 Guineas & French Derby-winning shuttler Lope De Vega (Shamardal-Lady Vettori, by Vettori) added a black-type success when 5YO bay gelding Lope De Capio (Lope de Vega-Dance of the Ocean, by Danzero) posted a narrow victory in the $100,000 Listed WH Wylie Handicap (1100m) for 3YO+, defeating Desert Lashes & Cool Passion. Lope De Capio, who was an $8,000 purchase at the 2014 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, improved his record to 6 wins and 6 placings (including the Listed SAJC Christmas Handicap) from 22 starts for $234,600 in earnings.

Boom sprinting mare Desert Lashes (Reward for Effort-Misha's Belle, by Baryshnikov) has been transferred from the Alice Springs stable of Lisa Whittle to Adelaide trainer Shayne Cahill, reports racing.com. The exciting 4YO extended her unbeaten record to eight when scoring a comfortable last-start win in the Listed Redelva Stakes at Morphettville on 22 April. Cahill, a dual license holder, has been aboard the daughter of Reward For Effort before, guiding her to victory at her penultimate start in the Schweppes Oaks Raceday Handicap over 1100 metres.

No Gr1 for Boom Filly

The connections of boom filly Desert Lashes will resist the temptation of running her against the older mares in Saturday’s Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville. Instead, trainer Lisa Lefoe has accepted to run the 3YO against her own age group in the $500,000 Listed Euclase Stakes over 1200 metres. Hailing from Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, the daughter of Reward for Effort extended her unbeaten record to 8 when scoring a comfortable last-start win in the Listed Redelva Stakes at Morphettville eleven days ago.
