She Will Reign Wins Listed (R) Inglis Nursery

Monday, 19th December 2016

At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Arrowfield Stud's Gr1-winning stallion Manhattan Rain (Encosta de Lago- Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a restricted black-type success when 2YO filly She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain-Courgette, by Charge Forward) scored a scintillating 4 length win in the $500,000 Listed (R) Inglis Nursery (1000m) for 2YOs, over 2YO colt Diamond Tathagata (Hinchinbrook-Maltese, by Tale of the Cat) & fellow 2YO filly African Rainbow (Foxwedge-African Rain, by Woodman). Purchased for the bargain price of $20,000 by Darby Racing at this year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, She Will reign extended her unbeaten record to 2 wins from 2 starts for $307,900 earnings. She Will Reign, who has now won both her starts by a combined margin of 12 lengths, is the new favourite for next year's Gr1 Golden Slipper after her latest impressive win. "She has always been very fast and I originally thought she might only be a nine hundred-metre horse," trainer Gary Portelli told AAP. "Now the next thing we have to do is try to teach her to settle because it can be hard to lead all the way in any big race."
