Monday, 16th April 2018

On day two of The Championships at Royal Randwick, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) added a Group race success when 2YO Australian-bred filly Pure Elation (I Am Invincible-Members Joy, by Hussonet) proved too classy for her rivals scoring a comfortable maiden stakes win in the $600,000 Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies, defeating Fiesta & Outback Barbie. Owned by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock Australia, Pure Elation improved her record to 2 wins and 1 placing (the Gr2 ATC Reisling Stakes) from 5 starts for $555,870 in earnings. A $320,000 purchase at the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Swettenham Stud, Pure Elation hails from the family of Gr3 Merson Cooper Stakes winner Rosa's Joy (Rory's Jester), stakes winners Rosa's Spur and Rosarino, and six-time stakes winning sprinter Cohort.

Seabrook Wins Gr2 Sweet Embrace Stakes

Monday, 5th March 2018

At Randwick in Sydney, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed stallion Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) added a Group success when potential-laden 2YO filly Seabrook (Hinchinbrook-Midnight Revels, by Don Eduardo) scored by a half-length for trainer Mick Price in the $200,000 Gr2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies, defeating fellow fillies Fiesta & Into The Abyss. Vindicating the hype out of Victoria, maiden Seabrook was kept out of trouble, albeit forced to race deep without cover, by master-hoop Hugh Bowman who patiently waited before screwing her down over the last 400m to win with a little in hand, and immediately enter the Golden Slipper picture. Luckless in the Blue Diamond Prelude, which denied her a chance in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes, Price ventured north in the seach for necessary prize money to make the forthcoming Rosehill 2YO feature. A $85,000 yearling at the 2017 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale where she was consigned by Maluka Thoroughbreds, Seabrook now has a win & 1 placing (plus a fourth in the (R) Listed Inglis 2YO Banner) from 3 starts for $146,300 earnings. The convincing manner of Seabrook's victory, and the faster sectionals compared to the Skyline, were enough for markets to tighten her in from $50 to $13 for the Golden Slipper.

Purchased by Star Thoroughbreds in partnership with Chris Waller Racing for $150,000 at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Fiesta got off the mark to improve her record to 1 win and 2 placings (including the Listed ATC Gimcrack Stakes) from 3 starts for $117,150 in earnings.
