Out of the winners' enclosure for more than a year and earning her first black-type success, I'm Feeling Lucky improved her record to 11 wins & 7 placings (including 2016's Listed Jungle Dawn Classic) from 40 starts for $575,920 earnings.

At Ascot racecourse in Perth, Western Australia, Windsor Park Stud's ill-fated Gr1-winning stallion Thorn Park (Spinning World-Joy, by Bluebird) added a black-type success when 5YO New Zealand-bred mare Celebrity Dream (Thorn Park- Valpolicella, by Red Ransom) burst through the field late to score a decisive win in the $100,000 Listed Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m) for 3YO+ fillies & mares, defeating Fontainebleau & Top Of The Class. This was the second successive stakes victory for he Bob Peters-owned Celebrity Dream who improved her record to 7 wins (including the Listed Jungle Mist Classic) and 4 placings from 14 starts for $300,750 in earnings. Purchased for $260,000 at the 2014 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, Celebrity Dream is out of the Gr3 Manawatu Classic winner Valpolicella (Red Ransom) who has already produced Gr2 Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic winner Vavasour as well as Gr2 Autumn Classic winner and Gr1 Queensland Derby placegetter Vilanova.

At Belmont racecourse in Perth, Western Australia, Lynward Park Stud's Gr1-winning Irish-bred stallion Alfred Nobel (Danehill Dancer-Glinting Desert, by Desert Prince) added a black-type success when 3YO bay filly Fontainebleau (Alfred Nobel-Aunt Lydia, by Serheed) raced up on the speed and outstayed her rivals in the $100,000 Listed Belmont Oaks (2000m) for 3YO fillies, defeating Midnight Drama & Elegant Blast. Raced by a syndicate headed by her breeder Lynward Park, Fontainebleau improved her record to 3 wins and 3 placings from 11 starts for $120,650 in earnings. Fontainebleau will make her next appearance in the Listed Belmont Classic (2200m) in a fortnight.

Four Wildcards Added To Tattersalls July Sale

Four Wildcards have been added to the Tattersalls July Sale which takes place next week from 6th-8th July. Dual Gr3-winning mare Lady Gloria will be the first of the wildcards to be offered at the sale (catalogued as Lot 89A). The daughter of Diktat enjoyed a successful career on the racecourse winning six races at three and four including two Gr3 contests at Epsom and Goodwood as well as the Listed Prix Solitude at Fontainebleau in France. The bay mare is offered in foal to Juddmonte’s exciting first season sire Bated Breath and has a colt foal at foot from the first crop of Coolmore’s Derby winning sire Australia. Catalogued as Lot 375A, the Charlie Hills trained Sonnet has also been added to the sale and will be offered during the morning session on Thursday, July 7. The three-year-old filly by Cheveley Park Stud’s Kyllachy is an own sister to the Irish National Stud resident and Gr2 National Stakes winner Dragon Pulse who has already sired Listed winning Legendary Lunch in his first crop. Whilst in training with Charlie Hills, the bay filly has been placed twice in her first three starts. Sonnet is rated 74p by ‘Timeform’. Also to be offered on the second day of the Tattersalls July Sale is Sea Of Flames (catalogued as Lot 595A). The 3YO chestnut gelding, currently in training with David Elsworth, is a winner of four races including the Listed International Trial Stakes at Lingfield run over a mile. The son of Aqlaam is officially rated 98 and is from the family of multiple Group winner in France Cocktail Queen. The final late addition is Lot 781A, the Marco Botti trained 4YO Fanciful Angel, to be offered on the evening session on Friday, July 8. The grey gelding, a son of Dark Angel, won the Listed International Stakes at Lingfield as a three-year-old and was runner up in the Gr2 German 2000 Guineas in Cologne. The consistent performer in Group and Listed company was also a winner at the Dubai World Cup Carnival in Meydan earlier in the year and rated 113 by ‘Timeform’.

This was the first Gr1 victory for Territories who took his record to 3 wins (including the Gr3 Prix de Fontainebleau) and 4 placings (including the Gr1 English 2000 Guineas) from 7 starts. Lisa-Jane Graffard, representing Territories owners Godolphin, said: "This was a very accomplished performance by Territories, who showed his class." At Longchamp in France on Sunday, 3YO Japanese-bred colt Karakontie (Bernstein-Sun Is Up, by Sunday Silence) justified favouritism when scoring by a neck for trainer Jonathan Pease in the €550,000 Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (8 furlongs) for 3YO colts, over fellow colts Prestige Vendome (Orpen-Place Vendome, by Dr Fong) & Pornichet (Vespone-Porza, by Septieme Ciel). This was the second Gr1 victory for Karakontie who took his record to 4 wins (including the Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere) and 2 placings (including the Gr3 Prix de Fontainebleau) from 6 starts for €593,260 earnings. Alan Cooper, racing manager to winning owners the Niarchos family, said: "Most of all bravo to the horse because the rain didn't help his cause but he is tough. It was a good performance and he has strengthened up over the winter and he came on again after the Fontainebleau," reported racingpost.com. Cooper added that races such as the Jockey Club (French Derby), the Irish Guineas, Ascot and Epsom were possible future targets.

Leading French Galloper Heads To Germany

Former Champion French Juvenile Dabirsim (Hat Trick-Rumoured, by Royal Academy) will stand his first season in Germany at Gestüt Karlshof Stud near Bergstrasse, reports bloodhorse.com. Bred by Liliane Monfort in France and purchased by owner Simon Springer at the 2010 Arqana Sale for only €30,000, Dabirsim won all of his five starts at 2 (including the Gr1 Prix Morny & Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere) and placed in 1 of his 2 starts as a 3YO (2nd in the Gr3 Prix de Fontainebleau over 1600m), finishing his career with earnings of €476,480. His second dam is Bright Generation (by Rainbow Quest) who won the Gr1 Oaks d'Italia and was crowned Champion 3YO filly in Italy in 1993. A fee is yet to be announced.

Trainer Christophe Ferland said, "The horse is not as well as I had hoped, so we decided with the owner that we would stop his career and send him to stud. We don't know which stud yet. Things did not go right last year. Christophe Soumillon did not get on with the horse. It's a shame he did not run again, but it is the best for the horse. He has had a foot problem. He was the best 2-year-old in Europe and he proved he can stay a mile, because he did that in the French Guineas." Purchased by owner Simon Springer at the 2010 Arqana Sale for only €30,000, Dabirsim won all of his 5 starts at 2 (including the Gr1 Prix Morny & Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere) and placed in 1 of his 2 starts as a 3YO (2nd in the Gr3 Prix de Fontainebleau over 1600m) finishing his career with earnings of €476,480. In France overnight, Eliza Park shuttler Mujahid (Danzig-Elrafa Ah, by Storm Cat) added a black-type success when 4YO entire Balius (Mujahid-Akhla, by Nashwan) notched his 4th stakes-win of the year with victory by a neck in the €52,000 (A$83,000) Listed Prix Tantieme (2000m) for 4YOs & up at Fontainebleau. Balius (ridden by Miguel Blancpain for trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias) defeated fellopw 4YO entire Kilometre Neuf (Double Bed-Mary Astor, by Groom Dancer) & front-running 5YO entire Willywell (Jimble-Basilissa, by Gay Minstrel). Previously this season Balius also won last month's Listed Grand Prix de La Region Alsace (2100m) at Strasbourg, as well as May's Listed Grand Prix De Bordeaux (1900m) & April's Listed Le Vase D'Argent (2000m) at Toulouse; & in 2006 he also won France's Listed Grand Prix Marseille (2000m).
