Monday, 1st May 2017

At Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong, Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo-Woodman's Girl, by Woodman) added a Group success when 4YO Australian-bred gelding Eagle Way (More Than Ready-Wedgetail Eagle, by Lure) scored by 0.75 length for trainer John Moore in the Gr3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup (2400m), defeating Helene Charisma & Gold Mount. Eagle Way improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr1 Queensland Derby) and 3 placings (including the Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes) from 19 starts for $1,339,659 in earnings. Eagle Way was a $200,000 weanling purchase by George Moore Bloodstock from the draft of Segenhoe Stud at 2014's Inglis Australian Weanling Sale. He is a half-brother to the stakes-winners Assertive Eagle, Impressive Eagle & Soaressa, herself the dam of dual Gr3 winner Thermal Current.
