Vow And Declare Wins Listed TCL TV Stakes

Friday, 9th November 2018

At Flemington racecourse in Melbourne, former Coolmore shuttler Declaration of War (War Front-Tempo West, by Rahy) sired his first stakes winner in Australia when 3YO Australian-bred gelding Vow And Declare (Declaration Of War-Geblizt, by Testa Rossa) refused to surrender when fighting strongly all the way to the line to post a narrow win in the $150,000 Listed TCL TV Stakes (1800m) for 3YOs, defeating Junipal & Tavidance. Passed in for $45,000 at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Kitchwin Hills, Vow And Declare improved his record to 2 wins and 2 placings from 5 starts for $110,790 in earnings. Jockey Damien Oliver spoke in glowing terms of Vow And Declare's potential post-race. "This horse can really stay," Oliver told racing.com. "He didn't quite get into the Derby, but he was so strong to the line today. He's a very promising young horse and hopefully we'll be back for the bigger races next year. He's an elite stayer in the making."
