At Hastings in New Zealand, Waikato Stud's deceased Gr1 Australian Guineas-winning stallion Pins (Snippets-No Finer, by Kaoru Star) added a Group race success when 3YO New Zealand-bred gelding Madison County (Pins-Red Delicious, by No Excuse Needed) opened his stakes account in the $100,000 Gr2 Hawke's Bay Guineas (1400m) for 3YOs, defeating Melt & King Louis. Racing in the colours of the China Horse Club who purchased him for $36,000 at the 2017 NZ Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale from the draft of Waikato Stud, Madison County improved his record to 2 wins and 2 placings (including the Gr3 Northland Breeders' Stakes) from 4 starts for NZ$92,810 in earnings.

King Louis Wins Gr3 El Dorado Classic

At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, Darley's multiple Gr1-winning shuttler Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado-Cappucino Bay, by Bailjumper) added a Group race success when 4YO Australian-bred gelding King Louis (Medaglia d'Oro-Run for Roses, by Danehill) claimed his maiden stakes win when landing the Gr3 El Dorado Classic (2000m), defeating Letitgo & Dicton. King Louis, who is out of a full sister to Gr1 winning sprinter and sire Keeper, improved his record to 4 wins and 7 placings from 16 starts.

Mr Clint Wins Gr1 Singapore Guineas

At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, Oaklands Stud's newly acquired European Gr1-winning stallion Power (Oasis Dream-Frappe, by Inchinor) celebrated an elite race success when 3YO New Zealand-bred gelding Mr Clint (Power-Victoria Belle, by Zabeel) unwound his trademark storming finish to post a comfortable win in the S$1 million Gr1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs, defeating King Louis & Captain Jamie. Trained by Lee Freedman, New Zealand Bloodstock graduate Mr Clint improved his record to 3 wins and 4 placings from 8 starts for S$185,439 in earnings. Freedman, who began his Singapore training career in September, said he was delighted to have trained a Group 1 winner. "It's a great thrill to win a Group 1 race here in Singapore. We're here now and that's what we have to do; win these big races," the Australian Hall of Fame trainer told the Singapore Turf Club.

Mister Yeoh Wins Gr2 Singapore 3YO Classic

At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, Clear Mountain Fairview's Gr1-winning stallion Wanted (Fastnet Rock-Fragmentation, by Snippets) added a Group race success when 3YO Australian-bred gelding Mister Yeoh (Wanted-Wai Lin, by Scenic) posted a strong front-running win in the second leg of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge, the S$500,000 Gr2 Singapore 3YO Classic (1400m), defeating Be Bee & King Louis. Mister Yeoh improved his record to 2 wins and 1 placing from 5 starts for approximately S$275,000 in earnings. Trainer Cliff Brown said Mister Yeoh would not run in the S$1 million Gr1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) on 26 May and instead would head for a spell.
