McEvoy Maintains the Faith in Oohood

Tuesday, 11th September 2018

Trainer Tony McEvoy believes Australia's best maiden Oohood (I am Invincible-Bella Sunday, by Sunday Silence) is primed to finally shed that unwanted tag when she contests the Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday. Oohood, who is remarkably yet to win a race in eight career starts despite being Gr1-placed on three occasions, including in the Golden Slipper, resumed with an excellent fourth behind Pure Elation in the Gr2 Furious Stakes (1200m) ten days ago. "She might have been out of the placings but her last start was her second best career run behind the Golden Slipper performance," McEvoy told racing.com. "With the figures that we do, she turned in her second-best lifetime figure and she's a 1400 metre horse to a miler and she gets to 1400 metres this Saturday." McEvoy added: "I have been really happy with the way she's been running. Clearly I'm not happy with her not winning, but I haven't been disappointed at all. She continues to improve." A black-type victory would boost Oohood's value significantly as she is a direct descendant of influential broodmare Easy Date, ancestress of Gr1-winning sire Snippets, Golden Slipper winner Forensics, and Arrowfield's high profile stallion Not A Single Doubt.

Pure Elation Wins Gr2 Furious Stakes

Monday, 3rd September 2018

At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) added a Group race quinella when 3YO Australian-bred filly Pure Elation (I Am Invincible-Members Joy, by Hussonet) resumed with an impressive win in the second leg of Sydney's Princess Series, the Gr2 Furious Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies, defeating Fiesta & Pretty In Pink. Owned by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock Australia, Pure Elation improved her record to 3 wins (including the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes) and 1 placing (the Gr2 ATC Reisling Stakes) from 6 starts for $667,220 in earnings. A $320,000 purchase at the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Swettenham Stud, Pure Elation hails from the family of Gr3 Merson Cooper Stakes winner Rosa's Joy (Rory's Jester), stakes winners Rosa's Spur and Rosarino, and six-time stakes winning sprinter Cohort. Trainers Peter & Paul Snowden have spoken in lofty tones about Pure Elation in the build-up to the spring, and their opinion was vindicated when she unleashed a brilliant sprint to claim her second black-type win. Pure Elation will have her next start in the Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on 15 September.

Snowden Elated With Filly

Wednesday, 22nd August 2018

Co-trainer Paul Snowden says he was delighted with the trial of 3YO filly Pure Elation despite her ninth place finish (beaten 6.6 lengths) behind stable-mate Redzel in a 1000m trial at Rosehill on Monday. Raced by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock Australia, Pure Elation (I Am Invincible-Members Joy, by Hussonet) showed plenty of raw ability in the autumn finishing runner-up to Golden Slipper winner Estijaab in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes, before rounding out her campaign with a strong win in the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. "She trialled really nicely. She has turned into a lovely filly," Paul Snowden told Sky Sports Radio. "She will kick off in the Furious Stakes on Saturday week and we are really looking forward to her getting back to the races." Snowden added: "To do what she did as a two-year-old speaks volumes for her ability. Hopefully we can take that next step with her this preparation." Pure Elation, who will resume in the Gr2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 1 September, holds big race entries in races such as the Gr1 Golden Rose, Gr1 Flight Stakes and Gr1 Thousand Guineas.

Team Snowden Elated by Filly

Thursday, 19th July 2018

Co-trainer Paul Snowden has identified smart filly Pure Elation as one of Team Snowden's most exciting prospects leading into the spring. Raced by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock Australia, Pure Elation (I Am Invincible-Members Joy, by Hussonet) showed a stack of promise in the autumn finishing runner-up to Golden Slipper winner Estijaab in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes, before rounding out her campaign with a strong win in the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. That win, however, was not without incident, with the rising 3YO suffering a bleeding attack during the race. "We're quite excited about her," Paul Snowden told racenet. "She had her mandatory two-month spell in the paddock, and an eight-week spell for a young horse is gold. She's really turned into a lovely filly." He added: "She's only been in the stables for three weeks and we're going to bring her up nice and steady. You'll probably see her step out at the trials mid-August at the earliest." Pure Elation holds Group 1 entries in races such as the Golden Rose, Flight Stakes and Thousand Guineas, but Snowden said no targets had been locked in as yet. "We're going to be guided by her but she's very exciting," he said. "We'll enter her for whatever she's eligible for but she will decide her targets."

Coolmore Aim for Pure Elation

Wednesday, 20th June 2018

Team Snowden has confirmed that the primary spring target of smart filly Pure Elation will be the $500,000 Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on 4 November, reports racingnsw.com.au. Raced by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock Australia, Pure Elation (I Am Invincible-Members Joy, by Hussonet) showed plenty of promise in her juvenile season finishing runner-up to Golden Slipper winner Estijaab in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes, before rounding out her campaign with a strong win in the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. "She really put her hand up and had a good crack and showed she's a mentally tough filly," co-trainer Peter Snowden said. "She might measure up for a Coolmore as a three-year-old. It's hard for a filly to win it but she has good ability."

Pure Elation Wins Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes

Monday, 16th April 2018

On day two of The Championships at Royal Randwick, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) added a Group race success when 2YO Australian-bred filly Pure Elation (I Am Invincible-Members Joy, by Hussonet) proved too classy for her rivals scoring a comfortable maiden stakes win in the $600,000 Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies, defeating Fiesta & Outback Barbie. Owned by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock Australia, Pure Elation improved her record to 2 wins and 1 placing (the Gr2 ATC Reisling Stakes) from 5 starts for $555,870 in earnings.

Estijaab Wins Gr2 Reisling Stakes

Monday, 12th March 2018

At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Arrowfield Stud's incumbent Champion Australian Sire Snitzel (Redoute's Choice-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) added a Group race success when 2YO Australian-bred filly Estijaab (Snitzel-Response, by Charge Forward) rounded out her Golden Slipper preparation with a narrow but decisive win in the $300,000 Gr2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies, defeating Pure Elation & Sister Sledge. Co-trainer Michael Hawkes seemed pleased with Estijaab's performance despite the filly drifting slightly out to $6 with TAB for Saturday week's $3.5 million Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens. "She ran really good time. It was a very good win. She was there to be beaten but the thing with this girl is you just hit the go button and she really wants to attack the line," Hawkes told Sky Racing. "It's not about how far...it's all about winning. How much more do you have to improve? She ran 1.09". Hawkes added: "Her brilliant attribute is she just relaxes and comes back underneath you. Once again she's done that. Onwards and upwards." From the dual Gr1-winning mare Response (Charge Forward), Estijaab races in the green and white colours of Emirates Park who purchased her from the Arrowfield draft for $1.7 million at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. She improved her record to 2 wins and 1 placing (the Gr2 ATC Silver Slipper Stakes) from 3 starts for $295,575 in earnings.
