Trainer Paul Beshara has confirmed that last year's Cox Plate runner-up Happy Trails (Good Journey-Madame Flurry, by Perugino) will run in Saturday's Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Beshara said last season's dual Gr1 winner (Emirates Stakes and Turnbull Stakes) would be floated across from Adelaide this week after trialling impressively at Gawler last Friday. "Happy Trails trialled really well," said Beshara. "He settled last in his trial, came around the whole field about 10 wide and ran second – I was really pleased with the way he went." He added, "Like last year he'll probably need the Memsie run. If he wins it will be a big bonus, but it will bring him right on and he'll be ready then." Happy Trails finished seventh in last year's renewal of the Memsie before a much improved effort at his next start saw him place fourth behind Dundeel in the Gr1 Underwood Stakes. He then scored a narrow success over Puissance de Lune in the Gr1 Turnbull Stakes before his second to Shamus Award in the Cox Plate. Talented New Zealand-bred mare You're So Good (Savabeel-Lightning Spur, by Flying Spur) will head to Adelaide this Saturday for the Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville, reports NZ Racing Desk. After finishing fifth behind classy Sydney mare Catkins in the Gr2 Emancipation Stakes over 1500 metres last start, trainer Nigel Blackiston decided the 4YO would benefit from a step down in distance and settled on Saturday's sprint feature as a suitable target. "She is racing very well this preparation and while her past two starts have been good I'm thinking she might be better at the shorter sprint distance where she is strong at the finish," Blackiston said. Blackiston is hopeful that You're So Good can go one better than her last Adelaide appearance, when she flashed home for second behind Riziz in the Listed Matrice Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on 10 March. "She was very good that day, another two strides and I think she wins it. The race on Saturday is a Group One race and she is very well in herself," Blackiston said. The Robert Sangster has attracted a quality field of 14 fillies and mares for Saturday's $400,000 sprint which includes last year's winner Platelet, Shamal Wind, A Time For Julia, Villa Verde, Miracles Of Life, Driefontein and impressive last-start Gr3 PJ Bell Stakes winner, Politeness.
