Throssell was purchased by Wylie Dalziel Racing for $70,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Raheen Stud. Trainer Ciaron Maher said Throssell would now be spelled to prepare for races such as the Caulfield Guineas and Victoria Derby in the spring. "The horse has really got no idea what he's doing still," Maher told racing.com. "Whatever he's doing now he seems to be doing on raw ability and I think he's still got to grow a bit as well."
