Cape Cross Adds UK Gr3

Former shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a UK group success when Irish-bred colt Namibian (Cape Cross-Disco Volante, by Sadler's Wells) scored by a neck in the £60,000 (A$92,000) Gr3 Queen’s Vase (2 miles) for 3YOs at Royal Ascot. Namibian (ridden by Silvestre de Sousa for trainer Mark Johnston) defeated fellow colts Solar Sky (Galileo-La Sky, by Law Society) & fellow Irish-bred Eternal Heart (Alhaarth-Lady In Pace, by Burslem). Namibian was a 60,000 guineas (A$96,000) yearling at the 2009 Tattersalls October Sale; overall he now has 2 wins & 3 placings (including May’s Listed Cocked Hat Stakes over 11 furlongs at Goodwood) from 9 starts for £71,774 (A$110,000) earnings.

1st Win To Gr1 Star Love Divine Half-Brother

On the same card at Haydock overnight, the half-brother to Gr1 English Oaks-winner Love Divine (Diesis-La Sky, by Law Society) also recorded his 1st win when 3YO colt Solar Sky (Galileo-La Sky) scored by 2.25-lengths over 12 furlongs in his 2nd start for trainer Henry Cecil.
