A homebred for Eduardo Cojuangco's Gooree Stud, Good Standing is out of the Giant's Causeway mare Elahi, a daughter of Gr1 Australasian Oaks winner Tempest Morn. Good Standing's record now stands at 3 wins (including the Gr2 Skyline Stakes & Gr3 Caulfield Classic) and 2 placings (including the Gr2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes) from 12 starts for $681,450 earnings. Good Standing will now be aimed at next month's Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm. "He's a classy horse who has been progressing well since the spring," stable spokesman John Keogh told Racing Queensland. Champion mare Winx will face eight rivals in Saturday's Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill. The world's best turf horse will be seeking her 16th consecutive victory and her 11th at Gr1 level in the $1 million weight-for-age event which is one of five Group One features on Golden Slipper day. The Chris Waller-trained mare has drawn barrier eight for the time-honoured event for which she is a $1.15 chance with Tab.
