At the Gold Coast in Queensland, Vinery Stud's champion shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo-Woodman's Girl, by Woodman) added a black-type success when 5YO Australian-bred mare Anatola (More Than Ready-Wager, by Flying Spur) let down with a brilliant turn of foot to score a dominant win in the $150,000 Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) for fillies & mares, defeating Test The World & Sylpheed. Trainer Mark Newham said Anatola's win had earned her a shot at better grade races during the winter. "I knew when she got to the front and had her ears pricked she'd be hard to run down," Newham told Racing Queensland Webnews. "I'll look at all options now and hopefully she can stretch out to 1350 metres so we can aim a little higher." A homebred for George Altomonte's Corumbene Stud, Anatola improved not only her broodmare value but also her record to 6 wins and 7 placings from 18 starts for $313,225 in earnings. She is out of the Gr2 winner and Gr1 Blue Diamond runner-up Wager and hails from the family of Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner True Jewels.

Niccanova improved his record to 4 wins and 1 placing from 5 starts for $207,000 earnings. Trainer Steve Tregea said Niccanova would now head to the Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm on 10 June, reports Racing Queensland Webnews.

At Doomben racecourse in Brisbane, US Gr1-winning Emirates Park shuttler Artie Schiller (El Prado-Hidden Light, by Majestic Light) added a black-type success when 3YO colt Good Standing (Artie Schiller-Elahi, by Giant's Causeway) proved far too good for his rivals when scoring a dominant win in the $100,000 Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1350m) for 3YOs, defeating Sylpheed & I'm A Rippa. A homebred for Eduardo Cojuangco's Gooree Stud, Good Standing is out of the Giant's Causeway mare Elahi, a daughter of Gr1 Australasian Oaks winner Tempest Morn. Good Standing's record now stands at 3 wins (including the Gr2 Skyline Stakes & Gr3 Caulfield Classic) and 2 placings (including the Gr2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes) from 12 starts for $681,450 earnings. Good Standing will now be aimed at next month's Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm. "He's a classy horse who has been progressing well since the spring," stable spokesman John Keogh told Racing Queensland. "We've got a few options but he'll run in the Fred Best Classic at set weights in two weeks then we'll look at our options."

Gr1 George Ryder Field & Barrier Draw

Champion mare Winx will face eight rivals in Saturday's Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill. The world's best turf horse will be seeking her 16th consecutive victory and her 11th at Gr1 level in the $1 million weight-for-age event which is one of five Group One features on Golden Slipper day. The Chris Waller-trained mare has drawn barrier eight for the time-honoured event for which she is a $1.15 chance with Tab. According to the market, the only horse expected to pose any sort of threat to Winx is Chautauqua who is rated an $8 chance. Of the original eleven horses nominated, only Black Heart Bart and Happy Clapper failed to accept. The final field is:
