Fresh Start for Theanswermyfriend

Friday, 13th July 2018

Talented Melbourne galloper Theanswermyfriend will have his first start for new trainer Darren Weir when he steps out in the Ladbrokes Cashout Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday. Previously trained by Robert Smerdon and Henry Dwyer, Theanswermyfriend (High Chaparral-Blowin in the Wind, by Danehill) has hitherto won 4 of his 18 starts, highlighted by his victory in the Listed The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington last spring. "He is a very good galloper, don't worry about that," Weir told racenet. "But I'm sure he has got a lot more to come after Saturday. I've got no real expectations, he is an on speed horse and he will just roll along. He's been down at my beach stable, just poking around, he has had two jump-outs and is ready to go." Weir added: "I've got no real set plans for him for the next couple of months, I just want to see how he goes on Saturday."

The Answer Is Weir

Tuesday, 26th June 2018

Racing.com reports that talented Melbourne galloper Theanswermyfriend has been transferred to the Warrnambool stable of champion trainer Darren Weir. Part-owner Rod Lyons, who also races boom sprinter Nature Strip, said that The answermyfriend may even be ready to return to the races in a few weeks time. "He's down there [Warrnambool] too and he's going terrific," said Lyons."He's going to have another jump-out over the next week and he might even start in the next couple of weeks." Lyons added: "He had a number of issues when he went down there. He was tying up badly and had some problems with the back and Darren did say that he's showing none of the problems that he arrived with so that salt water certainly does something for the horses." Theanswermyfriend (High Chaparral-Blowin in the Wind, by Danehill) has hitherto won 4 of his 18 starts, highlighted by his victory in the Listed The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington last spring.
