Assimilate Wins Listed Canberra Guineas

Monday, 12th March 2018

At Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory, Widden Stud's former Australian champion 2YO colt Sebring (More Than Ready-Purespeed, by Flying Spur) added a black-type quinella when 3YO Australian-bred colt Assimilate (Sebring-Jester's Girl, by Commands) stormed home to claim the first stakes win of his career in the $130,000 Listed Canberra Guineas (1400m) for 3YOs, defeating Primivito & Waimea Bay. Assimilate improved his record to 3 wins and 1 placing (the Gr3 ATC Ming Dynasty) from 7 starts for $230,750 in earnings. From the stakes-winning Commands mare Jester's Girl, Assimilate was purchased by China Horse Club and the US-based WinStar Farm for $420,000 at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. Other members of his ownership syndicate include Aquis Farm and Newgate Farm. Newgate Farm managing director Henry Field said the Gr3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 7 April is a possible target for Assimilate.
