Morrissey Says California Dane Best

Tuesday, 24th January 2006

Leading form guru & manager of Col Tidy's betchoice.com Mark Morissey is never afraid to put his opinion on the line, and last week publicly declared 3YO colt California Dane (Danehill-Storminwinter, by Seattle Slew) as being very, very special. Further to his comments that California Dane is the best horse he has seen in years, Morrissey told The Daily Telegraph yesterday: "He's an absolute freak, he'll be remembered as one of the greats." Offered by Coolmore (as agent) at the 2004 Inglis Easter Sale where he was passed in for $600,000 against a reserve of $800,000, California Dane has won 4 of his 5 starts, including his last 3 at Moonee Valley by an aggregate 11.5 lengths. The Lee Freedman-trained sophomore is currently at $1.65 with betchoice.com for Thursday night's Gr2 Carlyon Cup at Moonee Valley.
