Progeny Of Jezabeel & Champagne Win

Monday, 6th February 2006

Monday Odd Spot: In "a remarkable coincidence on Saturday, the progeny of the 1st & 2nd horses in the 1998 Gr1 Melbourne Cup raced in 2 separate states & both won," noted thoroughbrednews.co.nz. Zabeel mares Jezabeel & Champagne fought out the finish of the Melbourne Cup "which was naturally followed by retirement to the broodmare paddock & then dates with the same champion stallion Danehill, although a year apart for the progeny who raced on Saturday". At Royal Randwick in Sydney, 4YO gelding Crums made it 4 wins & 2 runner-ups in 8 starts with victory over 2000m. And 3YO Zezadane recorded his 1st win over 1300m at Bendigo in Victoria.
