UK Tatts: $234,000 Margaret River
Bloodstock agent Hugo Lascelles out-bid Tattersalls director Martin Mitchell (bidding by telephone for Dublin-based bloodstock agent John McCormack) & also paid 92,000 guineas (A$234,000) for an unraced 3YO Seeking The Gold filly Margaret River (out of Zilzal mare Meniatarra, a half-sister to Lammtarra) sold through John Troy. Margaret River is a grand-daughter of Gr1 Oaks winner Snow Bride (dam of Gr1 Derby & Gr1 Arc de Triomphe winner Lammatarra) & Lascelles told racingpost.co.uk: "She's been bought for American clients & will now go to Ireland, probably to be bred to Montjeu, but will eventually be based in the US. The pedigree is exceptional & Seeking The Gold is a good broodmare sire: he gets horses who go on turf & dirt."
