Ravinia Wins Magic Millions Classic
On the track in Australia yesterday, former Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner & Coolmore shuttler Thunder Gulch (Gulch-Line Of Thunder, by Storm Bird) added a significant juvenile winner when his daughter Ravinia (Thunder Gulch-Sudden Burst, by Serheed) led all-the-way on debut & then prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $150,000 Magic Millions Classic (1100m) for 2YOs at Ascot in Perth. Ravinia (ridden by Patrick Carbery for trainer Trevor Andrews) won by a neck from fellow filly Clarecastle (Tribu-Colorado Belle, by Santa Brae) with a further long-neck to the gelding Oroya Gold (Scenic-Stellare, by Bletchingly). Ravinia (a half-sister to the 3-time stakes-winner & Gr1 Railway Stakes runner up Mr Tanzania) is raced by the Holmes a'Court family's Heytesbury Stud; she was passed-in for $25,000 (reserve $30,000) at last year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale & now has $83,700 prize-money.
