SAf Yearlings: $88,000 Western Winter Colt
In South Africa, trainer Dean Kannemeyer paid equal top price of R400,000 (A$88,000) for yearling colt Saint Stephen (a son of US-bred stallion Western Winter) during Bloodstock SA's 2-day GrandWest Yearling Sale (formerly the Bloodstock SA Cape Summer Yearling Sale) at the GrandWest Casino in Cape Town. Saint Stephen (every yearling was named before it entered the ring) was consigned by Sally Jordaan's Lammerskraal Stud & Kannemeyer told racingpost.co.uk: "I have bought the horse for an overseas buyer. I can't be more specific, except that he is not from Britain or Ireland. I thought the colt was a beautifully put together individual with a lot of scope."
