Wednesday, 22nd March 2006

In South America, Coolmore shuttler Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added another international Gr1 triumph when owner-breeder Stud Mega's Heroi do Bafra (Royal Academy-Bride's Fantasy, by Roi Normand) won Brazil's Gr1 Grande Premio Fransisco Eduardo de Paula Machado (2000m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Gavea, reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Heroi Do Bafra (ridden by R.Salgado for trainer V.Nahid) defeated Northern Pan (Know Heights-Idle Affair, by Exile King) & Fly Dorcego (Choctaw Ridge-Flight To Rome, by Storm Bird) & the victory gave now 19-year-old Royal Academy "a 7th Gr1 winner from 2 crops in Brazil". Heroi do Bafra is from the family of outstanding broomdare Victress (who produced 8 winners including Horse-Of-The-Year Falcon Jet, stakes-winner Byzantine & Gr1 place-getters Ziska & Gemini One).
