Colic Forces Bahri Out Of Service

Friday, 2nd June 2006

In Ireland, European Champion Miler Bahri (by Riverman) "will miss the remainder of the breeding season after suffering a bout of colic that required surgery," reported racingpost.co.uk. Bahri "was successfully treated at the Troytown Veterinary Hospital but Derrinstown Stud general manager Stephen Collins confirmed the dual Gr1 winner will not be covering any further mares this year". Bahri (who retired to stud in 1996) initially stood at Shadwell Farm in the US, but after the success of his European performers (including Sakhee & Alshakr) the decision was taken to stand him at Derrinstown. Bahri stood this season at €8,000 (A$12,800).
