Countess Bathory Wins Dane Ripper Quality

Monday, 5th June 2006

Former Woodlands Stud triple Gr1-winning sire Dracula (Quest For Fame-Awards Ceremony, by Kaoru Star) who is relocating to Queensland's Egmont Park Stud on Toowoomba's Darling Downs for the 2006 breeding season (after being purchased by Egmont's Burns family) added a timely group success when 5YO mare Countess Bathory (Dracula-Folly's Magic, by High Reserve) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in the $100,000 Gr3 Dane Ripper Quality (1400m) for fillies & mares at Eagle Farm. Countess Bathory (ridden by Kevin Forrester for trainer John Wallace) defeated 6YO mare Freeroller (Royal Academy-Zabori, by Zabeel) & 4YO mare Love And Money (Secret Savings-Cherished, by Citidancer). Countess Bathory (a $13,000 yearling at the 2002 Inglis July Winter Sale) now has 9 wins (also including last start's Listed Glenlogan Park Stakes over 1350m at Doomben on May 20) & 8 placings in 28 starts for $301,725 earnings.
