Irish Champ Ad Valorem Joins Woodlands
Irish Champion 2YO Ad Valorem (Danzig-Classy Women, by Relaunch) will commence his stud career at Woodlands Stud in 2006 after Woodlands "secured 50% ownership of the exceptional son of sire-of-sires Danzig in an agreement with Coolmore Stud". Woodlands general manager Trevor Lobb (convinced Ad Valorem was an ideal stud prospect for Australian conditions) brokered a deal similar to that which saw Grand Lodge stand dual-hemisphere seasons between the 2 studs. Ad Valorem (still in training with Aidan O'Brien) ranks as the highest-rated 2YO (122) by Danzig to be made available to broodmare owners in Australia; his unbeaten juvenile campaign (3 wins) included Ireland's Listed Blenheim Stakes (6 furlongs at The Curragh) & England's Gr1 Middle Park Stakes (6 furlongs at Newmarket); he subsequently also boasts 2005 placings in both the UK Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes & Gr1 Sussex Stakes. Ad Valorem follows a quality list of Danzig sire-sons to enter stud duties in Australia, including Gr1 sires Danehill, Anabaa, Belong To Me, Bianconi & Perugino. His Group-winning dam Classy Women set a world record 1min 1sec for 5.5 furlongs at Hollywood Park, yet also had the versatility to win up to a mile. And daughters of dam-sire Relaunch have already produced over 70 stakes-winners (7 at Gr1 level) including City Zip (North America's leading 1st Season Sire of 2005 & current leading 2nd Crop Sire in 2006) plus Ghostzapper (US 2005 Champion Horse-Of-The-Year 2005 & only galloper to win both the Gr1 Met Mile & Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic). Ad Valorem will stand the 2006 season at $22,000.
