Tuesday, 6th June 2006

In Canada, former Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner & Coolmore shuttler Thunder Gulch (Gulch-Line Of Thunder, by Storm Bird) added a black-type success when his colt Pipers Thunder (Thunder Gulch-Lone Piper, by Dehere) won the Listed Plate Trial Stakes (9 furlongs) for 3YOs at Woodbine in Ontario. Pipers Thunder (ridden by Ray Sabourin for trainer E.Coatrieux) defeated Ascot Bill (Vicar-Ascot Gold, by Mutakddim) & hot favourite Edenwold (Southern Halo-Best Of Friends, by Mining) who is Canada's reigning champion 2YO colt from last season. At his previous start, Pipers Thunder had won over 8.5 furlongs at Woodbine on May 13 (after finishing unplaced on debut over 8 furlongs at Gulfstream Park in the US on March 19).
