MM Weanlings Day-1: 2nd $650,000 Redoute's Choice Colt

Friday, 9th June 2006

NZ's Haunui Farm principal Mark Chitty out-bid South African agent Andy Williams from World Wide Bloodstock & also paid $650,000 for a Redoute's Choice-Mascara Magic colt (consigned by Kitchwin Hills as agent). The colt was a late addition to the catalogue & Chitty declared "He's a cracker! We've been associated for many years with Kitchwin Hills & Mick Malone (stud manager) told us a few weeks back the colt would be heading to this sale. Taking into account he didn't have a full sale preparation, we thought he was an outstanding colt who would furnish into an outstanding yearling. We valued him at about $600,000 & you have to be able to be a bit flexible. But we struggled to get the extra $50,000."
