Last Tycoon Dies In Germany Aged 23
In Germany, former Champion Australian sire Last Tycoon (Try My Best-Mill Princess, by Mill Reef) died aged 23. "He had been pensioned for the last 2 years," noted racenet.com.au. His 1st Australian crop of 67 live foals included 5 Gr1 winners: Horse-Of-The-Year Mahogany; Blue Diamond Stakes winner Lady Jakeo; Galaxy winner Magic Of Money; plus South African champions Tracy's Element & Super Sheila. In New Zealand, Last Tycoon added 2 Horse-Of-The-Year champions: Tycoon Lil & O'Reilly. He was 1993-94 Australian champion sire (1st shuttle stallion to win the title) & leading 1st Crop sire in Europe. His Irish Gr1 winners include Bigstone, Ezzoud, Lost World & Marju. And in Japan his stars include Gr1 Oka Sho (1000 Guineas) winner Arrow Carry. Overall Last Tycoon (also the sire of exciting Oaklands Stud stallion Iglesia & NZ Waikato Stud stallion O'Reilly) boasts 72 stakes-winners (18 Gr1 winners) & his daughters have produced 64 stakes-winners (10 Gr1 winners).
