NZ WFA Scale Revised

Wednesday, 21st June 2006

The board of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing "has ruled NZ's weight-for-age scale will be aligned with Australia," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. The "sliding scale of weighting 3YOs against older horses will be removed, with NZTR reasoning that at some stages during the season in NZ, 3YOs have been getting a 2.5kg allowance, sliding back to 1kg; this will be replaced by an across-the-board 2.5kg allowance". NZTR was "motivated by a desire for consistency in both countries & simplified its WFA system in line with that in use in Australia".
