Distinction Unlikely For 3rd Melb Cup Trip
Meanwhile Harry Herbert, managing director of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing (whose Orangery Syndicate owns 3rd-placed 7YO gelding & Gold Cup favourite Distinction) told racenews.co.uk: "We were beaten by a very good horse; there are no excuses. He's just lost 2nd (by a head) & had good horses behind him. I think we will try & retain the Goodwood Cup with him now. We will have to see where Yeats is heading & try to avoid him! There is plenty of season left & I'm sure there is a Cup race to be won with him. He's given so much fun to syndicate members & always runs his heart out. He owes us nothing. It would be highly unlikely that he would run in the Melbourne Cup again, as he was very sore after last year's race. He has twice been unlucky there & it is a very expensive trip if you don't finish in the top 10."
