Edenwold Wins Canada Gr1 Queen's Plate
In North America, last year's Canadian champion 2YO colt Edenwold (Southern Halo-Best Of Friends, by Mining) scored a 0.75-lengths victory in the 1st leg of the 2006 Canadian 3YO Triple Crown, the Queen's Plate (10 furlongs) at Woodbine in Toronto, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Edenwold (ridden by Emile Ramsammy for trainer Josie Carroll) defeated front-running Sterwins (Runaway Groom-Sweet Vale, by Wild Again) & Malakoff (Lemon Drop Kid-Last Vice, by Vice Regent). Edenwold (a triple stakes-winner among 4 successive victories last year) entered the Queen's Plate following a runner-up in the Queenston Stakes on May 6 & 3rd in the Plate Trial Stakes on June 4; overall he now has 5 wins from 11 starts.
