Wednesday, 28th June 2006

In France, leading jockey Christophe Soumillon (who this weekend will bid to add the Gr1 Irish Derby to victories this season in both the the Italian & French equivalents) confirmed "his contract to ride for the Aga Khan has been extended to the end of 2008," reported racingpost.co.uk. Soumillon, 25, (who started to ride for the Aga Khan at the beginning of 2002) commented: "I am honoured that his Highness has confidence in me & extended my contract for a further 2 years. I hope that next season he will have even more good horses in his stable." Most of the Aga Khan's horses are trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre, who added: "I am personally delighted I will continue to be working with Christophe. It is very important that our collaboration continues: the more we get to know each other, the better we understand each other. He is a totally outstanding young rider."
