Tuesday, 29th August 2006

Ill-fated former Arrowfield Stud shuttler End Sweep (Forty Niner-Broom Dance, by Dance Spell) added a US track record when Florida-bred 7YO gelding Sweepingly (End Sweep-Factory Rebate, by On To Glory) "cruised to an 11.75-lengths victory at Remington Park, shaving 1.5sec off the track record for 5 furlongs," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Sweepingly (ridden by Alfredo Juarez for trainer Chris Hartman) won in 55.7sec (the previous mark was 57.2sec set in 1999 by Highland Ice) to take his overall record to 10 wins from 30 starts.
