Magic Millions Day-8: $110k Iglesia Filly

Monday, 22nd January 2007

Trainer Ron Maund (acting on behalf of the O'Brien family's Victorian-based Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm) out-bid Steve Brem & paid the Day-8 top price of $110,000 for a filly by ill-fated Oaklands Stud sire Iglesia (the 4th foal out of dual-winning Paris House mare Tres Rapide) during the final session of the Magic Millions yearling sale. The filly was consigned by Misty Downs Stud as agent & Maund commented: "She's a pretty special filly. We like to buy the good fillies & we thought she was one of the best here in (this part of) the sale. I had to go a bit higher than I thought, but with these quality yearlings you know other people are looking at them & there will be plenty of interest on them."
