NZ Brighthill Stud Snares Gr1 Winner Perfectly Ready
The powerhouse Gr1-winning sprinter Perfectly Ready (More Than Ready-Elle Duccio, by Danehill) has been snapped up by leading NZ farm Brighthill Stud and will commence his stud duties this year. Part owned by Dr Tom Simon of Vinery Stud and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum, Perfectly Ready was an exciting Group-winning 2YO who went on to win at 3 & 4 including the Gr1 Goodwood Handicap (1200m) in South Australia last year. The 4YO will be the 1st sprinting son of Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo-Woodman's Girl, by Woodman) to retire to stud and the 2nd of his progeny to stand at stud. The other is Gr1 VRC Derby (2500m) winner Benicio who already stands at Vinery. "We would dearly love to have Perfectly Ready at Vinery this year," explained Vinery stud manager Peter Orton, "but we have More Than Ready, Benicio and another Southern Halo in Dubleo so we felt he would not get the opportunity he so deserved. Furthermore I have always believed New Zealand is the ideal place to stand Perfectly Ready as his racetrack performance, conformation and pedigree will suit perfectly." An excited Brighthill stud manager Nick King commented: "This is the perfect horse for NZ right now. Everyone over here wants an Aussie sprinter and to land a genuine Gr1 sprinter, who looks exactly like what you'd want a sprinting sire to look like, is overwhelmingly exciting for the industry over here. In fact, I think broodmare owners will really rally to him and we are looking at over 100 mares. The timing of securing him on the back of what Pins is doing and the increase in juvenile prize money in NZ means he should make other new stallions down here pale into insignificance. Perfectly Ready retires with 4 wins & 4 placings from 15 starts for earnings of $685,650. A triple Group winner, and also twice Gr1 placed, his dam is a half-sister to Gr1 STC Golden Slipper heroine Belle Du Jour. Perfectly Ready will commence his duties at NZ$12,000 plus GST.
