US-based jockey Javier Castellano (a native of Venezuela) notched his 2,000th North American victory when Nombre de Dios scored at Calder Race Course, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Castellano, 29, won his 1st North American race in July 1997 at Calder. His recent highlights include the 2004 Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic on that season's Horse-Of-The-Year Ghostzapper, plus 2006 triumphs on last year's Champion 3YO Male Bernardini in the Gr1 Preakness Stakes, Gr1 Travers Stakes & Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup.
