At Argentina's Hipodromo de Palermo in Buenos Aires (on the marathon 19-race Republica Argentina holiday card, featuring 4 Gr1 contests) 5YO entire & Uruguayan 2006 Champion Older Horse Potri Flash (Potridoon-Niagara Falls, by Babor) "overhauled local favorite El Charleta (Missionary-Charolada, by Kitwood) in the final strides" to score an upset victory in Argentina's Gr1 Gran Premio Internacional Republica Argentina over 2000m (the most important race of the Argentine calendar for 3YOs & older on the dirt), reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Potri Flash (ridden by Carlos Mendez for trainer Cleber Sanguinetti) scored by 1.5-lengths from boom 3YO colt El Charleta (who last start notched a 4-lengths victory in Argentina's Gr1 Gran Premio de Honor over 2000m April 7) & fellow Argentine galloper Coquelize (Equalize-Coqueterie, by Ringaro). Owned & bred by Haras Gavroche, Potri Flash finished 2nd to Invasor (subsequent 2006 US Horse-Of-The-Year & 2007 Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner) in all 3 legs of the 2005 Uruguayan Triple Crown & last start finished runner-up in Argentina's Gr1 Gran Premio de Honor on April 7 at Palermo. Overall he now boasts 6 wins (plus placed in January's renewal of Uruguay's most important race, the Gr1 Gran Premio Jose Pedro Ramirez over 2400m at Maronas) from 19 starts.
