Vic Stewards Quiz Jockeys On Betting Accounts
Racing Victoria stewards are inquiring into the betting accounts of 2 Victorian jockeys. While jockeys are not allowed to bet on races, they are allowed to bet on other sporting codes. Racing Victoria chief steward Des Gleeson confirmed yesterday: "We are conducting on-going investigations & hopefully we will know more next week. They are just preliminary investigations." Stewards opened the inquiry after racing at Sandown on April 21 & Gleeson confirmed the information they received to open the inquiry "came via monitoring of betting actvities with wagering providers under the race fields legislation introduced last year".
