Flaming Wins Civic Stakes

Monday, 7th May 2007

Alanbridge Stud stallion Beautiful Crown (Chief's Crown-Beautiful Glass, by Pass the Glass) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Flaming (Beautiful Crown-Mahlin, by Mister C) grabbed victory by a neck in the $80,000 Listed Civic Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Flaming (ridden by Blake Shinn for trainer Gai Waterhouse) defeated 4YO gelding Bobadah (Bureaucracy-Newette, by New Regent) & 4YO mare Beauty Watch (Belong To Me-Rush For Gold, by Quack). Flaming (a $25,000 yearling consigned by Kooringal Stud at the 2003 Inglis Sires Produce Sale) now has 8 wins (also including 2005's Gr3 Bill Ritchie Handicap over 1400m at Randwick) & 7 placings (including 2006's Gr3 Bill Ritchie Handicap over 1400m & Gr3 Tramway Handicap over 1400m) from 25 starts for $368,975 earnings. His sire Beautiful Crown has 3 yearlings catalogued for the Magic Millions National Sale (including a full-brother to Flaming offered by Willowbend Stud) & 16 for the Inglis Scone Sale.
