Monday, 7th May 2007

Bengalla Stud sire Bite The Bullet (Spectacular Bid-Lassie's Lady, by Alydar) recorded his 18th stakes-winner when 4YO gelding The Jackal (Bite The Bullet-Positive Surprise, by Best Western) motored home to score by a long-neck in the $175,000 Listed Prime Minister's Cup (1300m) at the Gold Coast. The Jackal (ridden by Steven King for trainer Paul Vincent) defeated 5YO entire Daunting Lad (Latarmiss-New Day Dawning, by Standaan) & 5YO gelding Mr Hornblower (Admiralty-Anika Joy, by Tirol). The Jackal (a $20,000 yearling consigned by Baramul Stud at the 2004 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale) now has 7 wins & 9 placings (including February's Gr3 Frederick Clissold Stakes over 1200m & April's Listed Chief De Beers Quality over1100m) from 24 starts for $420,850 earnings. His sire Bite The Bullet (a close relation of champion US sire A.P.Indy & imports Foxhound, Statute Of Liberty & deceased Spectacular Spy) was the foundation sire at Kingmaker Park Stud near Scone, followed by a stint at Baramul Stud & then Bengalla, where he stood last season at $6,600. Bite the Bullet has 4 yearlings catalogued for this year's Magic Millions National Sale.
