1st Winner For Oaks Stud Sire Spartacus

NZ The Oaks Stud's dual Gr1-winning shuttle sire Spartacus (Danehill-Teslemi, by Ogygian) registered his 1st winner when 2YO colt Remind Me Monday (Spartacus-Phoenix Venture, by Thatching) scored by 2.5-lengths at Cork in Ireland for trainer Ger Lyons. The colt was a 110,000 guineas (A$286,000) yearling at last year's UK Doncaster St Leger Sale. Spartacus (who will stand at The Oaks Stud for NZ$8,000+GST in 2007) will have his initial southern hemisphere 2YO runners in the new season. Spartacus had a strong yearling sales series in January at Karaka, where he finished 2nd leading 1st-season sire with an overall average of NZ$79,174 & a top price of NZ$250,000.
