UK Stayer Mighty Confirmed For Melb Cup

Tuesday, 8th May 2007

UK 4YO staying entire Mighty (Pivotal-Miswaki Belle, by Miswaki) is being aimed at the Gr1 Melbourne Cup following his weekend 3rd in the Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes (12 furlongs) at Newmarket. Mighty also finished runner-up a fortnight earlier in the Gr3 John Porter Stakes (12 furlongs) at Newbury & trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam confirmed to racenews.co.uk: "He will now have a break & then be prepared for the Melbourne Cup. You need a horse who has a turn of foot but is able to switch off to win at Flemington & Mighty fits the bill perfectly. He has come a long way in a short space of time since he started his winning spree on the all-weather at Lingfield & he'll be accompanied Down Under by my Ebor winner Mudawin, who can act as his bodyguard."
